Spring? Yes It’s Here!

We can all breathe easy. The days are really getting longer. The weather is spring, at least here in Virginia. Trees are blooming and all feels right in the world.

My friend the frog poked his head out when I was on a walk and it seemed he was as hopeful as many people I know who were holding their collective breathes. “Yes please, can I come out of my hole?”

Many healers will tell you to do a seasonal cleanse. Many will recommend starting the sunscreen regime. Others will tell you to start slow and not overdo the activities. I’m going to tell you just listen to your body.

If what you feel you need is to be out in the air, do that. If you are feeling the need for more greens, eat them. If you feel the need to move more than the average winter bear, go with it. The lesson here is simple. Our bodies know best what we need and they really want to tell us. The challenge is we’ve been trained not to listen.

When it was still cold here I felt the need for spring flowers, pansies on the windowsill did the trick. The urge to get outside and move was insistent, so I have been walking a lot, outside in the flatlands and the hills listening to nature move into higher gear. Often when the weather changes I am less hungry, so I eat less. It’s really not that difficult. The challenge is always to stop, breathe and listen.

Mother’s Day is coming. Celebrate mother earth as well as your mother. Plant heirloom foods and poison nothing.

What is your Spring body and spirit telling you? No self doubt allowed, action required.
