Nutrition can mean many things, but at The Healthy Zone, when we talk about nutrition, we mean one of these, the other or both: the act or process of nourishing or of being nourished; the process by which organisms take in and utilize food material.  So, you ask, why should I care?  Here’s why.

 

Nutrition: The Act or Process of Nourishing or of Being Nourished

 

Nutrition is all about having energy. It’s about sleeping better. It’s about being able to keep up with your life.  Do you know what is going into your body? For example, are you taking in genetically modified foods with heavy amounts of pesticides, or are you eating organic foods?  Are you eating fast foods or fresh foods with high nutritional values?  At The Healthy Zone, we believe taking in pesticides and preservatives will increase the likelihood of disease and decrease the lifespan.  We teach ways to avoid these substances and still enjoy eating.  We also have researched supplements and nutrition programs designed to help you reach the ideal weight without sacrificing health.

Beyond that, they must not produce any unwanted side effects. Additionally, you must like to use them, and they should not be so expensive that they interfere with the rest of your life. Nutrition: The Process by Which Organisms Take in and Utilize Food Material

 

This is the more metabolic definition of nutrition.  Let’s say that in English: you’ve eaten it but is your digestive system breaking it down? Hint…if it’s still in your stomach after an hour, the answer is always no.

 

We all know that the metabolism is responsible for the rate at which we burn calories, fat and other sources of energy.  We also know that enzymes are an important part in regulating metabolic function. 

 

According to the Loomis Institute, “Enzyme nutrition is the art and science of using nutrition to maintain balance and health in the body.
